K & A Furness Limited was founded by husband and wife team Ken & Alma Furness in 1954. Ken Furness was a time served skilled sheet metal worker, supported by his wife Alma who was a shorthand typist and office clerk. Now at 84 & 82 years, respectively, Ken & Alma are retired & living in the Isle of Man. The company remains a family run business.
It was Ken Furness supported by his wife Alma in 1954, whilst establishing a Sheet Metal manufacturing business in the Oldham area, had an idea. Suction powered by air. Over the next few years, a very powerful air operated vacuum unit capable of a wide range of applications was developed, the mud vac sytem was then named the Jet-Vac® which was then patented and the trade mark registered.
There are a range of 9 Jet-Vac® models - V.1 - to - V.9. V stands for Venturi. The quantity of Venturis equate to power and speed.
The Jet-Vac® was a huge success, selling to industries, local, national and eventually worldwide.
